For the Runway Big Ad Contest I wanted to create something simple, that brings back some memories of the early 2000s commercials. I chose Japan as the location, maybe because the story fit perfectly the museum islands: Teshima and Naoshima, wooden houses, amazing mountains and magical tiny islands. Also the location enabled to use all the cliches, including the battery mascots at the end. This story could work better in a long form 90 or 120 second length, but rules are rules! Look wise I was going for a very grainy 16mm look - like if it was shot 1-2 stops under - , grabbed the settings that I’ve tested during my AI to film transfer, but adjusted it for a more contrasty, early 2000 cinematic look. hashtag#runwaybigadcontest edit: since then this ad won the Grand Prize on the awards: https://runwayml.com/BigAdContest
